I was at kneader's this morning, having a fantastic breakfast, and I saw this great little wall hanging plaque that I just had to have. It stated "Land of the Free BECAUSE of the Brave!" What a great little quote huh?
My patriotism began on 9/11! I have to admit that I really hadn't thought too much about it, but it hit me like a ton of bricks on this day. All of America was united together it seemed, and once again we were reminded of who we are, and how sacrifice created this nation! I remeber every detail of this day. I was driving to work when I heard that the first plane hit, and sitting in the parking lot listening to the radio, as the events unfolded, a second plane hit, and the announcers declaring this to be a terrorist attack. I got to my classroom and turned on the TV, and watched all day long. My students had many questions, and we talked about what this event meant for our nation. There was fear, anxiety, sorrow, and unity in this tragedy. Since this day, every time I hear the national anthem, I get a few tears in my eyes, and I really feel a sense of pride in our country that I hadn't felt before. I am so grateful to live here, and to be a part of this great nation.
Thank you, thank you, and thank you again to those who have served, and who are currently serving this great nation.
About Us
Andy and I met on a blind date in Dec. 2005. One of my 7th grade students was his neice, and she set us up. Go figure. We saw each other every day after that! We were engaged by June and married in September of 2006. In January, 2008, we welcomed little Ethan into our home, and in August, 2010, little Addison arrived.
Andy is a diesel mechanic at Kennecott. I taught middle school science for ten years, and am now an evidence-based learning specialist for a school district.
