About Us

Andy and I met on a blind date in Dec. 2005. One of my 7th grade students was his neice, and she set us up. Go figure. We saw each other every day after that! We were engaged by June and married in September of 2006. In January, 2008, we welcomed little Ethan into our home, and in August, 2010, little Addison arrived.

Andy is a diesel mechanic at Kennecott. I taught middle school science for ten years, and am now an evidence-based learning specialist for a school district.

Playground Fun

Ethan loves to go to the playground and go down the slides. He calls it weeee! He climbs up all by himself, and goes down all by himself. I can't believe how big he's getting!

He is talking sooo much now, and is even putting together sentences. He enjoys coloring, playing outside, anything to do with water, football, his golf clubs, and chasing Norma around the house. He also LOVES cartoons lately! He really likes Wall-e. He has space ship jammies that he calls wall-e. Adorable huh? He also really likes Toy Story, especially Buz!

He's learning lots of great things too! He can count to 3, and sometimes he'll count up to 7 or 8. I'm also trying to teach him the alphabet, but to no avail! Guess it'll come with time! I'm worried about him being a good reader. For the last 2 weeks, my team has been out to all the elementary schools in our district (44), testing EVERY SINGLE K, 1st, and 2nd grader on their reading ability! The K's and 1st graders have to identify the names and sounds letters make and the 2nd graders actually do a reading fluency test. Anyway, now that I've seen SOOO many kids who are FAR behind standard, I'm paranoid about teaching Ethan how to read! I guess I just need to cross that bridge when we come to it, and in the mean time, I'll buy some alphabet flash cards to get him started! :)

You shouldn't worry. At least you are aware!! I had Brevan in the BEST prechool, so he was overly prepared for Kindergarten. You have the skills on how to teach kids which I don't, so you are in good shape. Plus, Ethan is brilliant. :)

Leslie, trust me, he will learn the alphabet in preschool and over again in kindergarten, and that is SOON enough! It goes so fast, let him enjoy the non-academic world while it lasts --with all the homework we are doing, trust me, your little guy will learn to read and work those skills! He is YOUR kid he will do great!!!
